First Aid and CPR Training

The course equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to respond to emergency situations in the workplace and community in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. The cluster is suitable for individuals requiring first aid certification for employment, workplace compliance, or industry regulatory purposes

SBTA’s Admissions Requirements

 
 
  • Must be minimum of 18 years of age
  • Have satisfactorily completed Australian Year 11 or overseas equivalent school qualifications
  • English Language Requirement: International students must demonstrate at least an upper-intermediate level of English proficiency, such as an IELTS score of 6.0 or an equivalent score from other recognised tests. Equivalent scores include:
    • TOEFL iBT: 60-78
    • Cambridge English Exams (B2 First FCE / C1 Advanced CAE): 169 or above on the Cambridge scale
    • PTE Academic: 52-58; or
    • An English proficiency of upper intermediate level or above from any NEAS accredited ELICOS provider.
 

UNITS OF COMPETENCY

HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

This unit provides the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. Participants learn how to recognise cardiac emergencies, perform chest compressions and rescue breaths, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) until medical assistance arrives.

HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support

This unit focuses on responding to life-threatening emergencies using the DRSABCD action plan. Participants learn how to assess an emergency situation, manage unconscious casualties, perform CPR, use an AED, and provide basic life support until emergency services take over.

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

This unit provides the knowledge and practical skills required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in a range of emergency situations in the workplace or community. Participants learn how to manage injuries, medical conditions, and environmental emergencies, as well as how to communicate details of the incident and provide ongoing care until professional medical help arrives.
