Diploma of Hospitality Management is a nationally recognised qualification. The qualification reflects the role of highly skilled senior operators who use a broad range of hospitality skills combined with managerial skills and sound knowledge of industry to coordinate hospitality operations. They operate independently, have responsibility for others and make a range of operational business decisions. This qualification provides a pathway to work in any hospitality industry sector as a departmental or small business manager. The diversity of employers includes restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops. This qualification allows for multiskilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, cookery, food and beverage and gaming.

Students who successfully complete this course will be issued with the AQF (Australian Qualifications Framework) SIT50416 Diploma of Hospitality Management qualification. Students who partially complete this course (a minimum of one unit of competency) will be issued with a Statement of Attainment from SIT50416 Diploma of Hospitality Management qualification for the unit/s of competency successfully completed.

There are no entry requirement into this qualification, however to study this course at SBTA, the students must:
- be 18 years and over
- Completed Year 12 or overseas equivalent.
- Minimum score of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent; or
- an English proficiency of upper intermediate level or above from any NEAS accredited ELICOS provider.
- This program will be delivered over a total of 104 weeks (2 years) which is made of up of 72 weeks of face-to-face learning, 5 weeks of work placement plus 32 weeks of holiday breaks.
- Minimum of 20 hours per week (includes minimum of 15 hours of face to face plus 5 hours of distance learning per week) and 5 weeks of work placement.

- After achieving the qualification, students can gain a pathway and progress into SIT60316 Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management qualification.
Course fees for this qualification is $13,320 which is made up as follows:
- Term fee: $1,665 x 8 terms
- Total course fee: $13,320
- Enrolment fee: Student Visa $250 (Other visas $100)
- Materials fee: $100
