Certificate III in Hospitality is a nationally recognised qualification. This qualification reflects the role of individuals who have a range of well-developed hospitality service, sales or operational skills and sound knowledge of industry operations. Using discretion and judgement, they work with some independence and under limited supervision using plans, policies and procedures to guide work activities. This qualification provides a pathway to work in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops. This qualification allows for multiskilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, food and beverage

Course overview

This qualification comprises of a total of 15 units of competency made up of 7 core units plus 8 electives chosen from a range of electives after consultation with our industry partners.  To gain the full qualification, you will be required to successfully complete all fifteen (15) units of competency listed below.

If you successfully complete and gain competency in all 15 units of competency listed below, you will be issued with a SIT30616 Certificate III in Hospitality qualification (CRICOS Course Code 090937E).

If you partially complete the course or only a few units from this qualification, you will be awarded a Statement of Attainment from the SIT30616 Certificate III in Hospitality qualification (CRICOS Course Code 090937E) for the units you have successfully completed.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirement into this qualification, however to study this course at SBTA, the students must:

be 18 years and over

Academic

  • Completed year 11 or overseas equivalent;

 

English

  • Minimum score of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent; or
  • an English proficiency of upper intermediate level or above from any NEAS accredited ELICOS provider.

Duration:

  • This program will be delivered over a total of 52 weeks (1 year) which is made of up of 31 weeks of face-to-face learning, 5 weeks of work placement plus 16 weeks of holiday breaks.

Study mode

  • Minimum of 20 hours per week (includes minimum of 15 hours of face to face plus 5 hours of distance learning per week) and 5 weeks of work placement.

AM Shift 08.45am – 12.30pm Monday to Thursday
PM Shift 12.45pm – 04.30pm Monday to Thursday
EV Shift 04.45pm – 08.30pm Monday to Thursday
DAY Shift 08.30am – 04.30pm Friday and Saturday

Pathways from the qualification

  • After achieving the qualification, students can gain a pathway into SIT50416 Diploma of Hospitality Management qualification.

Course fees for this qualification is $6,660 which is made up as follows:
