Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management

This qualification reflects the role of highly skilled senior managers who use a broad range of hospitality skills combined with specialised managerial skills and substantial knowledge of industry to coordinate hospitality operations. They operate with significant autonomy and are responsible for making strategic business management decisions.

This qualification provides a pathway to work in any hospitality industry sector and for a diversity of employers including restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops. This qualification allows for multi-skilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, cookery, food and beverage and gaming.

COURSE DURATION

2.5 academic years.


TARGET AUDIENCE

  • Students, who are looking to gain skills and knowledge in the areas of hospitality management. These individuals plan to work or are working in hospitality establishments and wish to formalise their hospitality skills and knowledge by completing this hospitality Advanced Diploma of Hospitality qualification.
    At this level students are able to monitor performance and operate at a senior level; use substantial industry knowledge and wide-ranging, specialised managerial skills. Students can work independently, take responsibility for others and make a range of strategic business decisions
  • Students with a first language other than English looking for entry-level office roles, or progressing to a higher AQF qualification.

DELIVERY MODES

Full-time, on-campus. Support material available on the SBTA E-Learning Portal.

Requirements

  • Minimum score of intermediate IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
  • To gain entry into the study the Diploma of Hospitality Management qualification, students must enrol into our full program and start their studies completing Certificate III units of competency or present completed lower suitable qualification and gain credit transfer for completed units of competency.

Pathways

At the successful completion of this course students may elect to continue further studies at higher AQF levels. This course forms part of a package of hospitality qualifications.

  • food and beverage manager

  • motel owner or manager

Total number of units = 33

  • 16 core units of competency plus
  • 17 elective units of competency

The units of competency below have been selected with consultation with our industry partners. The list below identifies units of competency which are completed during the study of Certificate III in Hospitality and Diploma of Hospitality Management.
